What is Thrive?
Thrive is a training weekend presented by the Western Australian Conference of the Adventist Church. We aim to educate and empower local church members to better serve God in their chosen areas of ministry and church life. There will be five workshop sessions over the weekend each with several available workshops to choose from, in addition to plenary sessions where all attendees will gather together for worship. Registration will work on a first in best dressed basis with only 20 places in each workshop, most of the workshops will be repeated in multiple sessions to give everyone a chance to participate in their area of interest.
Don’t hesitate to contact the Conference Office (9398 7222) if you are having issues or have questions.

Director of Youth Ministries – Western Australian Conference
I believe there is a desire in each of us to belong, to be loved, to feel valued and to grow in a community where no judgement, where there is acceptance and an openness to doing life together is fostered. I have served in youth ministry all of the 17 years of my pastoral ministry life; from high school to university to hospital chaplaincy to my current role as youth ministries director, and the one big constant that comes back again and again is people feeling they need a community that cares. Our Life groups sessions will be focusing on the four questions: the why, what, where and the how of life groups. If you’re looking to start a life group but need help, don’t miss these session.

Church Pastor & School Chaplain – Western Australian Conference
Worship has been core business to my ministry before becoming a church pastor. God has blessed me with my music gift which has led me to organise and lead bands for summer camps, youth rallies, church summits and church services for the past 13 years. I have had humble opportunities to work with the Institute of worship with some very gifted and amazing people like Dr Lyell Heise and Marion Moroney. This led me to run workshops in the Solomon Islands, New Zealand, and a few churches in the NNSW conference. I am very excited to be tapping back into this gifting again to help equip and empower our local churches here in WA to lead our members into worship with our Creator.
Workshop: Worship Leading 101 (Available in Sessions 3 & 5)
Associate Director of Youth Ministries – Western Australian Conference
Research shows us that when young people feel heard, understood and cared for, they are less likely to walk away from their church community and their faith. Mentoring is an opportunity to walk alongside a young person, journeying through life’s ups and downs and help create opportunities for growth. From experience as a school teacher, chaplain and associate youth director, Amy will share practical and biblical examples of mentoring and how you can apply this in your children’s and youth ministries in your local church.
Workshop: Mentoring (Available in Sessions 1 & 4)
