Guest Keynote Presenters
We have some excellent trainers with a significant amount of cumulative church planting experience coming for the Church Planting Summit:
Rick McEdward
Rick is the new Director of the GC Global Mission Religious Study Centers. Rick was born in Seattle, Washington where his family was part of a church plant. While his family was living in Saudi Arabia, Rick was inspired by the religious devotion of his Muslim neighbours to explore a personal relationship with God, and soon after that he commited his life to Jesus. He and his wife were part of a team that planted another church in Seattle, and then he pastored an established church of about 350 members. In 2001, Rick was invited to Sir Lanka where he trained and equipped a church planting movement that planted 25 new congregations. After returning to the US in 2009, he revived a church in a wealthy neighbourhood in Texas before moving to the Institute of World Mission at Andrews University until his recent appointment as Director of the Global Mission Study Centres. You can read more about Rick McEdward at Adventist Mission
Kleber Goncalves
Kleber Goncalves has planted the New Seed Church in Sao Paulo, Brazil with the specific mission of reaching secular, postmodern people for Jesus. Starting with a core team of 16 members, the church has grown beyond 900 people and has two Sabbath services. And it is still growing! You can read more about Kleber's church plant story at http://www.adventistmission.org/article.php?id=1712
Workshop Trainers We'll have a range of interstate and local workshop presenters, including Revive (Melbourne) and Gateway Adventist Centre (Melbourne), as well as Wayne Krause from the South Pacific Division Centre for Church Planting (New South Wales). There will also be many Kingdom stories shared at the Church Planting Summit of how God is moving in WA.
More information about our workshops follows:
| Begginer Stream: T4T Team | The beginner stream is specifically designed to provide people who are new to church planting with the most fundamental and practical principles for starting a Church Planting Movement. This stream will be led by a team of local practitioners who have been on a church planting journey with God for several years now, and have valuable practical training and insights to share. |
| Spiritual Armour for Battle: Glenn Townend | Movements start with prayer! Keeping this as a real focus is the key to breaking satan's strongholds and unleashing fresh encounters with God and His powerful Holy Spirit. In this workshop you will explore the power of prayer in opening up new territories for God and how to deal with spiritual warfare that you will encounter along the way. |
| Cutting-edge ministry how-to's: Revive | Revive will share with you practical insights on how to reach people for God's kingdom - right we're they're at! Revive church (Melbourne) was launched in 2007 by a group of young people. God has led Revive in amazing ways in fulfilling their vision of cultivating an open, welcoming, refreshing, releasing and multiplying community. He’s especially given them a heart and means for connecting with people on the fringes of society and reaching them with the Good News of Jesus; people that most churches struggle to reach. |
| Growing disciples through small groups: Gateway Adventist Centre | Gateway ministry consists of a training centre and church network of several hundred members and alumnis across Victoria and Asia. Gateway trainer, Janelle Cuthbert, will share tools for growing disciples through small groups and associated tips for effective discipleship. |
| Bringing it together: Wayne Krauss | Being church in today's secular soceity is no easy feat, so learning how to form healthy and effective churches that are relevant to the 21st Century, is crucial! This workshop will provide practical tips on forming churches that meet the needs of the people in Western societies, while at the same time keeping a strong Biblical foundation. |
| Sowing God's kingdom into people's lives: Clark Riggins | Clark has a real passion for sharing Jesus and teaching others how to share the hope and meaning that He offers to all. If you would like to learn simple and practical ways of planting Kingdom seeds into people's lives in a way that is relevant to people in today's secular society, then you will greatly benefit from this workshop. |
| Discipling seekers into fully-devoted followers of Jesus": Peter Fowler | Peter has been on an exciting journey of building God's kingdom through a growing house church network in WA. Peter will share crucial insights into how your missional group can help guide people on their spiritual journey from a non-Christian background, to becoming fully-devoted followers of Jesus, that in turn go and multiply other disciples. |
| Planting churches that multiply": John Horvath & Sven Ostring | If you have a vision to become a multiplying church and want to explore the key principles for making this dream a reality, then this workshop is for you! John is a pioneering pastor, who has trail blazed the path for a multiplying network of churches for refugees in Perth. Sven is leading an Adventist university church planting network in WA, and is also Director of Leadership Development for the WA Conference. |
Who would be interested?
If you have a team of people in your church or circle of influence who have a passion for planting churches, then this will definitely be the training and equipping event for them. This includes a vision for developing multiple worship services in your current location or other campuses, starting a house church network that is directly associated with your local church and starting new missional groups in your community.
Things to Keep in Mind:
The Church Planting Summit 2012 starts on Thursday evening, so people who register need to plan to take Friday 24 February 2012 off to get maximum value from the event.
This will be an opportunity to empower and equip your churches for growth and multiplication. Forward this to anyone in your congregation who is called to be part of the growing Adventist movement in WA.
KIDS PROGRAM: While the adults are taking part in the training aspects of the Summit, we have a special program available just for kids 3 - 12 years old and invite you to bring your kids along! Through creative prayer, Bible exploration, singing, stories and more, children will discover more about Jesus and how to partner with Him in exciting mission adventures. Don't forget to register your children for the kids program on your registration form. Please note: Children below 3 are also welcome, but they will need to be accompanied by a parent at all times.
