Adventist Christian Schools (WA) Updates

Registration for five Schools

Our schools provide quality education, ensuring that all students have opportunities for success while at school, and beyond the classroom walls. It is awesome to see lives of our students transformed because of the extra attention and care that is provided.

Our schools exist to reveal Jesus to the students, families, and staff. It is an amazing mission field that we are a part of. We want to ask that you continue to pray for our schools here in WA, so they can continue to be a shining light to those in our communities and churches.

We are very pleased to announce that our five Adventist Schools in WA have received the maximum five years of registration with the Department of Education, through the Non-Government Schools Regulatory Body. The hard work and dedication of all our staff, and school leaders, are to be commended.

Victoria Park Christian School Building Update

Victoria Park Christian School has had some exciting events occur over the last few months. The building of a block of four new classrooms has just been completed. Teachers and students are looking forward to using the new spaces for learning. Once the new playground has been installed, we will be able to utilize the whole area for our Pre-Primary to Year 3 students.

We have also enjoyed engaging with our families during Messy Church, a new initiative begun recently by our chaplain, Pr. Kyle Richardson. We have had between 50 - 60 people attending twice a term on a Friday evening. During Messy Church parents, students and staff join in with activities, singing and sharing food to connect and worship God together.

Esperance Christian School Week of Worship

Esperance Christian School recently had our week of worship. Litiana Turner was our guest speaker and the children really related to her and her message. The theme was “Be the Change.” We were blessed to have her here in our school.

We also had a combined church, students and parents meeting at the school library on Sabbath morning. The deaconesses and staff catered for a lunch of haystacks and beautiful sweets. It was a really relaxed and inclusive morning that everyone enjoyed. God provided us with a wonderful sunny day, and we all basked in the blessing as we ate our lunch on the veranda and chatted.

At one stage during the talk, a mother leaned forward and whispered in my ear. She pointed to her daughter and said, “There’s your miracle. We can’t thank you enough for your school’s role in our daughter’s life since she has been here”.

Landsdale Christian School visits Avondale University

The Year 11’s from Landsdale Christian School recently went on an incredible trip to Avondale University and Canberra.

“During their time at Avondale University, our students had the unique opportunity to to fully embrace the rhythm of university life. By participating in worship sessions, engaging in community activities and delving into dorm life, they gained profound insights into the essence of Avondale’s educational environment. The experience provided a firsthand understanding of the University’s values, academic offerings, and campus culture. Our students were also treated to a captivating exploration of Canberra’s cultural landmarks. Visiting icons such as Old Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and the High Court allowed them to dive into Australia’s historical and political landscape. These visits offered a deeper appreciation of the Nation’s democratic processes, the solemn remembrance of its military history and the intricacies of the High Court.”

“The year 9 class at Landsdale School has shown their remarkable spirit by coming together to support a wonderful cause, under the care of Mr Bowyer. In an awe-inspiring fundraising effort, our students have raised an impressive $1110.85 for Midland Meals! This achievement would not have been possible without the collective dedication and hard work of our amazing students, parents and staff.”

There have been some exciting changes happening at Embrace, Landsdale’s campus church. They have been trialling an afternoon church programme. Below are the Term 3 start times. We would love to see you there; you are always welcome.

Carmel Adventist College Secondary ANCHOR Week

Carmel Adventist College (Secondary) experienced an ANCHOR Week [based on Hebrews 6:19] that was unlike any other. A week where students and staff alike, were challenged by the calling of Jesus, to be intentional in every aspect of life.

This is one students’ perspective:

“Anchor Week 2023 has been a very inspirational and motivating experience for all us students and teachers. We had our junior and senior bands on music this week that filled the church with praise and song. Our drama, produced by Mrs Richardson, and performed by some very talented students in our school, and our amazing speaker, Pr. Eddie Hypolite, has taught us a lot about being intentional in all aspects of our life”.

On day one, we were introduced to our drama cast for the week who were acting out Acts 4. We were also introduced to our speaker, Pr. Eddie, who began the week with encouraging us to belong in an intentional community, where the people around us are true to their beliefs and values, and not surrounding yourself with people who are going to pressure you in doing things that go against your beliefs.

On the last day of ANCHOR week, the drama finished with Vanilla’s father being assigned head of police However, he must get rid of all the Christians, Vanilla included. Vanilla must run away to be safe, but she is ready because she knows that God is with her. Pr. Eddie talked about promise, presence and purpose. How God promises to be with us through everything, and that even though we don’t always look for Him, He is always present and that through everything, he gives us purpose.
