Quiet On The Western Front: God’s Work At Southside Fellowship

From 31 August to the first weekend of October, Pastor Gary Webster led the Prophetica and Apocalypse series at Southside Seventh-day Adventist Fellowship, Port Kennedy. Over five weekends, Pastor Webster shared powerful messages, supported by 100 days of prayer from church members. This campaign was a collaborative effort involving Hope Spring Fellowship, Southside Pathfinders, and church members, all of whom persevered through fluctuating attendance. Sometimes, God defies our expected miracles with His reality, and this effort was no exception.

Two weeks before the campaign concluded, four individuals committed to baptism. Soon after, four young people, one adult, and two others for re-baptism stepped forward. Each story demonstrates God’s leading.

Bernadette, known as Gei, attended the meetings with her husband Angel and even helped with letterboxing. Introduced to the Adventist faith through television, Gei later met a Filipino Adventist doctor who inspired her spiritual journey. While it took time for Gei to take the final step, her baptism became a reality.

Christine, from a Church of Christ background, worked as a nurse at Sherwin Lodge for 20 years and occasionally attended Gosnells Church. Referred to Southside Fellowship after her retirement, she received help from members with moving and gardening and continued Bible studies with Mark Elliot. Seeing Christine finally give her life to the Lord was a moment of great joy.

Leah, my sister-in-law, had long been searching for truth. Initially connected with Jehovah’s Witnesses, she withdrew due to discomfort with their approach. During her visit for the campaign, Leah stepped forward for baptism, fulfilling her spiritual journey.

The fourth candidate, Mary Magdalene, has a story for another time. Stay tuned!
