Catalyst WA: A Weekend of Spiritual Growth and Connection

Catalyst WA was more than just a weekend retreat; it was a transformative experience that left a lasting impact. It brought together inspiring theological teachings, practical workshops, and meaningful discussions, creating an unforgettable discipleship training weekend. On 12-14, July, 67 people from 17 Western Australian churches gathered at Mornington Adventure Camp for this special event, designed to deepen faith, build connections, and foster growth as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Mornington Adventure Camp provided the perfect backdrop for reflection, learning, fellowship, and an element of fun. Attendees engaged in a diverse array of activities aimed at spiritual growth and community building. The weekend featured a dynamic mix of presenters, each bringing their unique insights and passion to the sessions.

From the core Catalyst team at Avondale University, we were privileged to have Pastor Gilbert Cangy and Mrs. Christina Hawkins. Their teachings focused on understanding the Kingdom of God and missional small groups. Adding to the weekend were local Perth-based presenters, Pastor Gervais Cangy and Miss Audrey Kozumplik. Pastor Gervais delved deep into understanding Jesus, while Audrey, a recent Catalyst graduate from Clarkson Church, led interactive sessions on spirituality and community. Participants valued the presenters and recognised their passion and dedication, which was evident in every session.

One of the highlights of Catalyst WA was the sense of community it fostered. People shared how they enjoyed connecting with new people and building relationships with fellow believers. The weekend didn’t just offer theological insights; it also equipped participants with practical tools and resources for discipleship. The success of Catalyst WA has sparked excitement for future events. Plans are already underway for discipleship training in 2025, with hopes of hosting a special Catalyst WA event for teens, alongside another weekend for adults.
