Catalyst comes to Western Australia!

“Imagine if we had a program like this right here in WA!” That was Pr Steve Goods’ reaction in 2022 when he first heard about plans for Catalyst, a discipleship program launched at Avondale University. Fast-forward to now, and his wish is coming true!

Back in 2022, Pr. Gilbert. Cangy, Director of the Centre of Discipleship, joined the WA Discipleship Ministries team to share details of the program hosted at Avondale University. The team was excited by the possibilities, as we knew numerous conversations had been had over the years about a discipleship training program in WA. However, we recognised that it would be challenging for many of our people to travel to the Avondale University campus. We responded by taking up a special offering at Easter Camp 2023 to sponsor Western Australians to attend Catalyst. Thanks to the generosity of Western Australians we raised over $11,000 and were able to sponsor one person to be part of the first Catalyst cohort that kicked off in August 2023 and another person for the second cohort which has just finished. We are hoping to send more people!

Remembering Steve’s suggestion and thinking of those who aren’t able to attend Catalyst at Avondale University, the WA Discipleship Ministries team is hard at work planning a unique Catalyst weekend, set for July 12-14 at Mornington Adventure Camp.

The core Catalyst team is headed to WA to bring a weekend packed with transformative teachings. Pr Gilbert Cangy believes this will be life-defining! The focus will be on encountering the transforming presence of Jesus, with opportunities for attendees to deepen their understanding of God’s word and his will for their lives. Expect engaging sessions that inspire them to become Spirit-filled disciple-makers, ready to make a real impact in the world.

And that’s not all. There will be time to unplug and recharge in nature, enjoy campfires, good food, uplifting music and plenty of time to connect with God. It will allow for an immersion in a spiritual journey.

We encourage each church to sponsor a team to attend Catalyst WA, with a three-way split: the local church covers a third of the cost, the participants cover a third, and the Conference Office will pick up the rest. This means participants would pay just $60 for a weekend that includes accommodation, food and an amazing experience!

Catalyst WA is designed for anyone 18 and older who wants to dive deeper into their faith and become a more effective disciple-maker. If you’re ready to take your spiritual journey to the next level, this is the event you’ve been waiting for. Don’t miss out!
