From Darkness to Light: A Journey of Faith and Miracle at Lagoon Beach
At Lagoon Beach in Yanchep, Perth All Nations Church Company baptized six young people on 17 February. Among them were two sets of siblings from the Pur and Yai families, and Aguer Kiir. Akoal (Agul) Tong, the mother of Lang and Machole Yai, was grateful to God for saving Lang’s life ten years ago after he was left in a hot car at a shopping centre for nearly an hour.
Aguer Kiir had wanted to be baptized since he was nine, but had to wait until his father Micheal Kiir, who is currently unwell and in a wheelchair, could join him. This year, he was finally baptized while prayers continue for his father’s recovery.
Nyayien Peter Pur shared her story: “Today, I declare that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour.” She talked about a tough time when her younger brother Changkouth was severely burnt and needed urgent hospital care. This event deeply affected her. Later, struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide, Nyayien found strength in her faith. A note from her younger sister Nyatut stopped her from taking her life and led her to get involved with a prayer group and church activities.
Nyayien concluded, “The only way I would survive was if I fully surrendered and gave my life to Jesus.” Her life has since transformed, filled with light, love, joy, peace, and forgiveness. She now focuses on helping others find their way from darkness to light through faith. Her story is a powerful example of how faith and community support can help overcome severe challenges.
