Pilbara Regional

It was a privilege to enjoy the Pilbara Regional on the 16th of July in Port Hedland. It included included people from Karratha, Hedland, and the scattered regions. People from of the Pilbara think nothing of traveling for two hours to get to church. They enjoy coming together to worship. There is a real sense of warmth and team in their community, and this is not just reserved for Sabbath morning. People are involved in helping each other and engaging others for Jesus. Some are setting up and pulling down. Many are involved in food service for the fellowship lunch, and others are leading in leading in inclusive worship.

What struck me was that many of these people work 10-to-12-hour days, but they are active during the week as well in being missional. This includes opening their homes for bibles studies, picking people up to get them to church and bible studies, and conducting bible studies. It seems that people are really using their spiritual gifts and doing it in a way that demonstrates the fruits of the spirit. I am not claiming the churches in the Pilbara are perfect, but they are reflecting Jesus. Just a few weeks after I had the pleasure of worshipping with them, they baptised 17 people and I was not surprised.
