Updates at Mornington

Winter has been quite wet at Mornington. We completed the majority of the new dam section just in time for the winter’s rains. With work on the dam suspended until summer now, we were eagerly waiting to see how it filled. It took some time for the creeks to start running however once they were, the dam added 2.5m of depth in eight days and now it is now overflowing.

Currently the blue gum plantation is being harvested, which has made some huge changes to the outlook of the property. This will continue over the next couple of months.

At the start of August, we held our first school camp, with Landsdale Christian School bringing their Year 8 class to Mornington for four days. During their stay we had two days of wild weather and two days of nice weather which meant they were able to enjoy a variety of activities on offer.

These activties included initiative and team games, the crate challenge, flying fox, mountain biking, canoeing and raft building. During the raft building some of the students found out how cold the dam really is at this time of the year.

After renovations we have also upgraded the Camp Mornington Lodge to now facilitate 12 rooms which now include bunk rooms, family rooms and rooms for two. These cater for between 2-10 people per room with a maximum capacity of seventy four. We look forward to welcoming more schools and church groups to Camp Mornington over the coming months.
