Ten Teen Baptisms at Livingston Church
Ten teens were baptised at Livingston Church over two baptism days in June. Most of the boys met as a Bible Study group with Pr Andrew Skeggs for a few months with help from church member Barry Sisson: Declan Bishop, Ethan Martinez, Jacob Pocock, Bennett Sarader, Liam Skeggs and Michael Sopi. Thomas Brown studied with Pr Andrew Olsen, who baptised him. Broden House baptised Michael as his school chaplain. Pr Skeggs baptised the others, including his eldest son, Liam. Teen girls Jenae Johansson and Tiffany Omondi had studied with Megan Hunter and then were joined by Lynne Ronoh. Lynne decided to be baptised in response to the boys’ baptism after previous Bible Studies in Africa. Friends from Carmel Adventist College Primary provided music on the day of the girls’ baptism directed by Brydon Eaton and Megan baptised the three girls.
Both days were very joyful and involved the parents of the candidates reflecting on their own baptisms and spiritual journeys and encouraging their teens to follow Jesus. All the teens gave testimonies and acknowledged the influence of parents, Sabbath School teachers, Pathfinder leaders, Christian school teachers and church members. Jacob Pocock spoke for all the teens when he said, “I’m not a perfect Christian, but I’m getting baptised because I’m for God and God is for me. I want to live with God forever.”
