Deepening Discipleship at Maida Vale Church

"Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10) encapsulates the essence of the Deep Calling discipleship program, which Pastor Jody Eddy facilitated with a group of us at Maida Vale Church. In a world that often feels anything but still, God calls us to find stillness and to walk in harmony with Him.

There’s nothing like being surrounded by people who are committed to deepening their relationship with God. For 12 weeks, we gathered as a small group to meditate on God’s word, learn together, and pray together. Among the many topics we explored were hearing God’s voice, experiencing His grace, healing brokenness, being in the community, finding rest, and abiding with Jesus.

The Deep Calling program not only equipped us with skills to deepen our relationship with God but also offered creative ways to connect with Him. This program is particularly beneficial for new believers who are learning how to seek and build a relationship with God, as well as for anyone desiring to grow spiritually.

We were profoundly blessed by our time together. There is something uniquely powerful about believers coming together to seek God. Words cannot fully capture the experience; it is something you have to encounter for yourself. I wholeheartedly recommend pursuing a deeper relationship with God and taking part in any opportunity to grow closer to Him.

About Deep Calling

Deep Calling is a book and small group guide developed by Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Tara VinCross. "Deep Calling: On Being and Growing Disciples" emphasizes discipleship as a life-long process rather than a destination. It
supports a holistic discipleship movement that encompasses all areas of life. Pastor VinCross explains that it’s about learning to listen to the voice of God in your own life and satisfying that longing with the only One who can satisfy your soul. All are invited and all are welcome to answer the deep call of God.
