70 Teenagers
9 Mentors
11 Young leaders
8 Cooks headed to
4 Remote communities
1 Aim - ‘Adventure in Service’.
StormCo 2024 saw a time where God was truly working in the lives and service of young people in WA.
After last year’s challenges, the people of Mullewa were amazed and surprised that StormCo came back again this year. The team received many comments from the town that we truly must have a strong faith to be back serving their community. Even the community kids, - who love to bang on the doors and windows so the team will continue to play with them (they’re just trying to eat lunch), stopped their noises when they looked through the window and saw the whole team praying for them (this happened many times throughout the week). God is good!
Cue’s group had over 30 kids coming along to their kids clubs in the mornings. The team also took care of some of the community members back yards for them to lend helping hand.
In Meekatharra, the story of Joseph was acted out for the kids club. Lots of gardening and furniture building, in conjunction with ‘Mission Australia’ (who do a fantastic job) put the skills of the teenagers to the test. Time was also spent helping out at Karalundi.
Wiluna’s group interacted with the community with their kids club, service projects, BBQ’s for the community, movie nights at the youth centre for the kids and much more.
On Sabbath, in Wiluna, church was held at a spot called ‘North Pool’. The local youth workers brought the community out in buses and vans along with the StormCo Crew (there was around 70 people for church). The town appreciated them so much that the Elders of the community were giving speeches of thanks for everything that had been done and the time spent in their town.
Church was also held in Meekatharra Seventh-day Adventist church. More community members, both young and older, came along to worship with our team.
The Mullewa crew went through to Spalding church in Geraldton and worshipped there.
Meeting all of the buses on their return was a highlight for me. The kids were all exhausted, but without exception, they all said they had an amazing ‘Adventure in Service’.
